The folks over at Quickoffice Pro have announced that their powerful document editing and creating application has been updated to version 4.1 for devices running Android version 1.6-2.3. A welcomed addition, the application offers several new and functional features for office savvy individuals on the go.

“The Android market continues to be an exciting platform as new devices appear from various handset manufacturers,” said David Halpin, VP of engineering at Quickoffice. “We continue to seek ways to innovate essential features that will enhance, streamline and evolve consumers’ mobile Office experience. Our latest update does just that, building new and exciting capabilities into our comprehensive application.”

Among some of the powerful new features you’ll find with Quickoffice Pro are the ability to view footnotes and end notes in Word documents along with a simple “easy-to-use formula builder enhancement in Excel” In addition, there has been enhanced image rendering and improved speeds for loading documents thanks to the new cached capabilities, saving on memory and providing an overall boost in scrolling capabilities. Furthermore, you’ll now have the ability to undo/redo picture inserts and deletions on the fly. It would seem that one fact still remains, the days of being pinned at the office to your PC are long gone.

Quickpoint offers a new range of editing features, including: undo / redo for picture insertion and deletion; shape background editing; improved bullet rendering; and insert shapes and render vertical text in a presentation. For users who mostly work on Excel spreadsheets, Quickoffice Pro v4.1 features a control redesign, which lets users actively edit inline, selecting and scrolling through different cells, rather that double tapping on different cells to make edits. Combined with the new formula builder that automatically activates when users edit inline and contextual input capabilities, consumers are able to quickly and easily revise cells for a more streamlined Excel editing experience.

Back in May, with the release of Google Docs for Android, I discussed why I thought the application wasn’t ready yet as well as why I left Docs To Go for Quickoffice. As of this day, I still stand by the decision as Quickoffice has a crisp, clean and streamlined UI, it’s easy to use, syncs up with my Google Docs account and it renders beautifully on a tablet. In addition, searching for documents is as good as doing it from Google Docs online itself.
